Ethiopian Buku

Experience the vibrant essence of Ethiopian coffee with our Ethiopian Hambela Buku. This naturally processed gem hails from the Buku village in the Guji Zone, meticulously cultivated and processed by METAD—a family-owned enterprise with deep-rooted ties to Ethiopia's rich coffee heritage.

A Legacy of Excellence

The story of METAD began post-World War II when the Ethiopian Emperor granted land in the Guji and Sidama zones to Muluemebet Emiru, Africa's first female pilot and the family's matriarch. This land blossomed into the Hambela Coffee Estate, now managed by her descendants, including Aman Adinew, who returned to Ethiopia after a successful international career to uplift his community through exceptional coffee production.

Community Empowerment

METAD's commitment extends beyond coffee cultivation. They provide employment opportunities, with over 70% of their workforce being women, and support local education by sponsoring a state-of-the-art elementary school for more than 400 students. Their partnership with Grounds for Health has introduced vital cervical cancer screening programs within coffee-growing communities.

Flavor Profile

Savor a cup that embodies the unique terroir of the Guji Zone. Expect a harmonious blend of black currant, peach, and maple syrup notes, complemented by a cocoa powder finish. The natural processing method imparts a sweet complexity, making each sip a delightful experience.

Brewing Recommendations

To fully appreciate the intricate flavors of Ethiopian Hambela Buku, we recommend brewing methods that highlight its fruity and floral notes, such as pour-over or French press. Adjust grind size and water temperature to suit your taste preferences.
